Pellegrini wants to manage for another 10 years until he’s 75. My script says he does a good job of that with us, Noble as coaching staff, groomed to take over as manager in 2028.

*This probably means Pellegrini will be with us at least until 2021*

He might die before then

This probably means Pellegrini will be with us at least until 2021. He must have backed or even requested this extension.

Good!

Anyone else notice Noble and Rice hitting lots of long crossfield passes to switch play in the last match. Definitely a new brief from the gaffer.

If we could have a second Rice instead of Obiang, then Noble could play a big part until 2021. He is fit and his stamina is up there with the best. He still covers more ground than anyone else in nearly every match.

I for one am delighted that the club has recognised his commitment to the cause and rewarded him by allowing him to stay on with the club he loves for at least another year. I know he is not everyone's favourite player but Mark Noblie epitomises how I feel about West Ham. He loves the club and I hope he stays for life. I have massive respect for him as a player and more importantly as a person. Good on ya son.

Re: West Ham exercise option to extend Nobles contract to 2021
I reckon he's got at least 10 WHO cycles left in him.

Loads of people slagging him off because of a mistake followed by an opposition five minutes later. Then some marvelous play later matches that results in several goals for us (and within a reasonable time, too), and loads of people praising him.

And repeat.

To be fair, the slaggers and the praisers are mostly different people... but only mostly

Exactly the sort of player we all whine doesn't exist anymore but we should all be grateful he's ours, the last of a dying breed, fully deserves this contract

Road to COACHING. And that's good for the club.

He's the only natural skipper at the club. We will miss him when he finally hangs up his boots.

So he's basically just got 1 more year, hardly a big news story is it.

been excellent during our 3 straight wins

Bit harsh Kenzo.

Carroll has been a complete an utter waste of time since he's been here, whereas Noble is a club legend. He's not the best player we've ever had, but you've gotta appreciate him for what he's given the club over the years.

If there was ever a player in the recent history of our club that deserves a golden handshake, it's Mark Noble

Was hoping we would sack him off with Carroll at the end of the season.

"Sighs"

Good to see him get this extension. When the chips are down he can always be relied on to come up with the goods.

Hopefully, they will treat Rice with the same respect.

If I was an 18 year old prospect, that would definitely make me sign a new contract.

Or maybe with a few issues around contracts, a senior team and squad member pledging their future could be seen as leading by example and a good bit of squad PR?

Agreed, seems he has upped his game last few games, bit slippery, still must have known this was coming :-)

It's no coincidence since he's come back from his suspension we've gone onto win 3 in a row.

Re: West Ham exercise option to extend Nobles contract to 2021
Takes him up to 34, haven't really got a problem with it, he's been with us since he was 17.

Been pretty good in the last couple of games too.

Re: West Ham exercise option to extend Nobles contract to 2021
Seems a bit odd to do it now, with 1.5 years left on his current deal. We could have waited another year and see how it goes.

Re: West Ham exercise option to extend Nobles contract to 2021
By 2020 we'll need a bigger squad as that will be our first season defending the Champions League trophy so this extension does make sense.

Madrid must be sniffing to replace Modric.....
